  La «machine hydraulique» de Bruxelles, dite aussi de Saint-Josse-ten-Noode, est 
un ouvrage du début du XVIIe siècle aussi remarquable que mal connu. Si les 
grandes lignes de son histoire ont été tracées à plusieurs reprises par diverses 
contributions, l'implication exacte des personnages qui sont associés à sa création 
reste malgré tout obscure. En faisant le point sur ce que l'on sait et sur ce qui reste 
à explorer de cette histoire, cette contribution invite non seulement à mettre en 
questions les visions traditionnelles de «l'invention» moderne mais aussi à 
repenser les relations et les héritages qui fondent les relations entre la population 
d'une ville et son eau et, par là, avec sa banlieue.

  Les municipalités castillanes pratiquent une politique active de l'eau durant le 
XVe siècle. Le contrôle sur l'eau s'avère capital pour l'affirmation du pouvoir à 
l'échelle locale, de même qu'il fournit des arguments pour que celui-ci apparaisse 
comme légitime. L'objet de cet article est plus précisément de s'interroger sur 
l'interaction existant entre l'eau et le pouvoir à l'échelle urbaine, et cela à travers 
l'étude du cas particulier de la ville de Palencia où la caractéristique la plus

                <text>La question des transports a joué un rôle décisif dans la candidature de Rio aux Jeux Olympiques de 2016. Pour remporter d'adhésion du CIO, les autorités locales ont fait la promesse d'une restructuration radicale de l'offre. L'ambitieux plan à réaliser s'appuie sur les divers projets laissés jusque-là sans suite. Faute de financements ? En partie seulement. La raison plus profonde est à chercher dans l'incapacité structurelle des politiques à modifier le cadre d'exercice du service public des transports, laissé au puissant cartel des sociétés d'autobus. L'organisation actuelle répond de plus en plus mal aux besoins de mobilité d'une métropole de plus de 11 millions d'habitants et contribue à approfondir les déséquilibres sociaux et spatiaux que l'offre de transport informel suscitée par la carence du système contribue encore à le fragiliser. La situation de Rio est d'autant plus paradoxale que la seconde ville du pays est restée à l'écart des innovations retenues par l'emblématique ville de Curitiba, dont les solutions de Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) ont été adoptées dans la plupart des métropoles du pays. Pour Rio, l'échéance des Olympiades est donc un défi de taille. Présentés comme des investissements d'infrastructure, les projets de BRT doivent relier entre eux les sites olympiques et au-delà assurer l'émergence de pôles d'échange structurants à l'échelle métropolitaine. La question est alors de savoir si les aménagements planifiés vont parvenir à agir comme un levier pour restructurer en profondeur l'offre. Un pari encore incertain dont l'enjeu est la redéfinition des rapports de pouvoir entre les sociétés de transport privées et les autorités publiques.</text>

Ce livre plaide pour une r&amp;eacute;forme profonde de ce dispositif. Mais maintenir un objectif de mixit&amp;eacute; est aussi un choix politique au sens fort, engageant une vision de la soci&amp;eacute;t&amp;eacute; et de son devenir.   Créé parmi les dix premiers écomusées qui virent le jour en France, celui de Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines est caractéristique d'une approche militante de la culture qui place la population au centre du projet muséal. Lié à l'émergence de la ville nouvelle, il s'inscrit dans le processus de pré-animation du territoire souhaitée par les aménageurs. Traitant à la fois du passé et des mutations liées à la construction de la ville nouvelle, il se trouve confronté à la complexité et aux enjeux politiques qu'engendre la mise en place d'une intercommunalité imposée, devenant un outil de « mémoire » que tentent de s'approprier différentes catégories d'acteurs. Atypique, cet écomusée doit s'appuyer sur une politique de recherches interdisciplinaires et de collecte « pionnière » sur les modes de vie urbains, afin de parvenir à témoigner d'une histoire et d'un patrimoine encore trop récents pour accéder à un statut légitime.
