The knowledge of the history of immigration, allowing to take into account heritages, is necessary to understand the present location of immigrants within the Parisian space. When one reads a map locating todays various immigrant populations, it is helpful to keep in mind which were the settling areas that the first immigrants of a group adopted depending on employment and housing opportunities in the economic context on their arrival. That historical background also allows to understand the development process of new incomers' settling areas in which the various migratory waves keep succeeding.</text>

By 2030 nearly 2 billion people will live in informal urban settlements or slums. Although living in abject poverty, slum communities are resilient and create new forms of urbanism. This panel will discuss current work in slums throughout the world, considering issues of empowerment and social equity, environmental sustainability, economic development and human health. These discussions will be both speculative and re&#64258; ective, stimulating critical inquiry and interdisciplinary dialogue into how concerted efforts can transform informal communities to improve the health of those living within them and guide future development of cities worldwide.</div>

It tries to explain why small-scale water providers have appeared there, what type of service they provide and why they have succeeded, where the municipalities have failed. The objective is to examine to what extent small-scale water providers activities are sustainable and wheter they constitute a temporary or a permanent phenomenon in these territories ; to examine whether we are heading towards new forms of urban governance, where informal actors no longer compete with each other, but cooperate with public utilities and emerge as an extension of the public utility.</text>

In Vienna there exists an intermediate category of the self-employed who are at the same time under contract to a major employer - in this case newspaper firms. Most of the street newspaper vendors are Egyptian, with high levels of educational qualifications. Stays in Vienna are short, with immigration still being possible because of the workers' self-employed status. Migrants live in groups without family. Their position is very tenuous and they are amongst the most exploited groups in the labour market.</text>

<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />

</text>

                <text>This paper is a contribution to the discussion about territorial repercussions of transport facilities and forms of territorial governance. The estuary of the Seine is an exemplary place to understand the territory planning organized around two recent and very different facilities : the “Pont de Normandie” (built between 1988 and 1995 by the trade and industry organization of Le Havre) and the container traffic dock of “Port 2000”, opened in 2006 by the port authority of Le Havre. The process is quite peculiar as it brings together three dimensions : a territorial dimension (to organize a community of projects with the two banks of the estuary), a maritime dimension (projects of port development and intensification of maritime exchanges), an urban dimension (transformation of the waterfront). The environmental protection is now a new territorial dimension for the development of the estuary. </text>

</text>

                <text>A complex decision-making process and uncertain results characterize hybrid transport infrastructures. The article analyses the decision-making process of a case study (Météor, automatic metro line, Paris) and shows how a transport project can become hybrid (technically, spatially, etc). The main results show that hybridity depends more on the conditions of the decision-making process than on the nature of the risks of the project. Hybridity can generate opportunities and risks as lack of connectivity, problems of decision scale in the case of a multiscalar project (as Météor, etc). These risks can be decreased by the choice of one decision level. But this should be compatible with different levels of financing. Hybridity can generate risks which depend on the lack of a global transport and land planning policy. </text>
