<text>The paper analyses interregional migration flows of the elderly in West Germany. The demographic and socio-economic structure of the migrants is described as well as types of migration such as amenity migrants preferring health-resorts, return migrants, and kinship and support-related migrants. Next, areas of origin, mostly cities and urban agglomerations, and areas of destination are presented, with special reference to migration flows of the young-old and the old-old. During the 1970s and 1980s the migration rates of the elderly declined considerably, particularly for long-distance migration and more so for retirement migration sensu stricto than for support-related flows. The last section of the paper discusses some arguments to explain this decrease.</text>

<text>Rouen: spatial extension and quantitative slackening of counter-urbanization
Central Pays de Caux (cantons of Fauville and Yvetot) is very representative of the inversion of population growth at the expense of towns and to the benefit of country, which occurred in France during the decade 1970-1980. Because demographic rural growth is basically the result of a positive migratory balance, the analysis of migrations is particularly instructive.
The first stage of the study is a systemic exploratory model in which immigration mainly consists in «rurbanisation» (counterurbanisation) from large cities, in return of adults born in country and in population coming from "deep Caux" (the more rural and urban-distant part of Caux), while emigration is essentially made up of young people.
Two communes (Allouville-Bellefosse and Alvimare) have been selected for an analysis of migrations based on several sources: a special survey (a quarter of the households), the study of election file and planning permission file. The nature of migrants is first investigated (where are they coming from? where are they going to?, what are their age structure and occupations?) before the analysis of their motivations. Considering the results r of surveys, some premises of the model must be challenged. Counterurbanisation from Rouen is quite negligible and migration from "deep Caux" has been strongly reduced recently. Three main immigration shifts may be observed: The settling of workers coming from Yvetot and small industrial towns in the neighbouring Seine valley and more recently from Le Havre, because of cheap building land for sale in housing estates; a return of adults born in country (expected in the model, but less important than the first flow) which are settling preferably outside the housing estates, particularly the "white collars"; at last the coming of tertiary population mainly employed in services induced in villages by the population growth. Emigrants are mainly the young less than 25 years old who are leaving considering the lack of cheap rental houses in rural space, but also the elderly, because of the lack of amenities in scattered hamlets.
The paper ends with an interrogation on prospects of population growth in suburban rural spaces. It seems that paradoxically the movement is quantitatively and globally slowing down, but carries on its spatial extension.</text>

<text>Even among the most remote from major urban centers, French rural areas have been repopulated since the 1970s. Nowadays, this observation is widely shared but few researches have sought a deeper understanding of its geographical and socio-demographic features. Using census data INSEE 2007, this article proposes an analysis of rural revivals in metropolitan France. We particularly focus on studying internal French migrations - from urban and rural areas to types of rural areas previously identified - in order to define the most attractive and profiles of newcomers (ages, Socio-Professional Categories). First of all, our statistical treatments show a strong continuation of suburbanization processes around major regional cities, and smaller ones as well. Then, they reveal significant demographic increases within rural areas less dependent on urban attractiveness ; their characteristics are still to study both in the national French context and with a quantitative approach. </text>

</text>

<text>The topic of integration of rural migrants into the urban job market has become essential in China. Within the context of economic reforms, migration policies in mainland China have been redefined, with a strong intensification of internal migrations. Since the 1980’s, this movement is mostly represented by flows of peasant-workers (min gong), who have become a major element of China’s transition towards a market economy. This paper examines the insertion of rural migrants into the job market of Guangdong province, using an original database stemming from a 2006 survey of peasant-workers. From duration models, we give a particular attention to individual, temporal (evolution of job mobility with time) and spatial (role of the place of out-migration) characteristics. Our results show that migrants are a heterogeneous group considering individual characteristics and their employability in the Pearl River delta. Women, young people and low-skilled workers have an advantage. Geographic proximity is also a positive element. Finally, we examine the determinants of urban salaries for the peasant-workers who are entering a job market that appears more and mosre segmented and fragmented. peasant-workers, mobility, urban employment, salary, China </text>

The analysis of migrations between 49 départements of Cameroun provides a régionalisation of this state and reveals the existence of three main integrated regions and a wide interstitial area. This spatial organization is partly determined by the inequal repartition of population density inside the state and by the localization of the main towns. But the use of a gravity model reveals also significant barriers effects between West and East along the former historical and linguistic boundary. Secondary barriers effects appear also between North and South. </text>

</text>

However, according to local societies, it is possible to observe a variety of local responses and specific processes, of both resistance and institutional change. The objective of the article is to question the institutional processes of metropolitan construction, by looking at the case of Milan metropolis, historically characterized by a strong conservatism and fragmentation of public action, which may lead to validate the hypothesis of the ungovernability of the metropolis. Indeed, Milanese society turns out to be very resistant towards any attempts to implement metropolitan institutional reform trough the classical instruments of public action. Despite this, discrete processes and mechanisms of change emerge during the analysis. These results allow questioning the bases of metropolitan construction and change, by highlighting the endogenous processes supported mainly by non-political actors, and unfolding in specific segments of public action and urban regulation. </text>

Interpreting survey results in a panel-data logit results show that most socio-economic and public good-related respondent's characteristics do not play a significant role in explaining choices to discard in the home waste-waters network. The only significant regressor, apart from the nature of the refuse itself, is, by far, the belief that the respondent has about her neighbors' and relatives' discarding behavior. We use Dong's endogeneity test [7] to show that that regressor is not endogenous. We argue that these results may be used by policymakers to reduce undesirable refuses in the home waste-waters network by means of properly designed nudges.</text>
