Peu voire aucune recherche ne traite directement de paysage multisensoriel, et ce malgré les travaux sur les paysages monosensoriels. Ainsi, l'objectif de ce travail est de comprendre quels sont les conditions et les apports spécifiques d'une prise en compte du sensible (situé) dans l'action urbaine par l'intermédiaire du paysage multisensoriel. Cette thèse propose d'étudier les paysages multisensoriels de 3 quartiers durables du nord de l'Europe (WGT à Amsterdam, Bo01 et Augustenborg à Malmö) par le déploiement d'une démarche méthodologique emboîtée qui articule de manière séquencée et progressive : un diagnostic (qui comporte un " diagnostic documentaire ", un diagnostic urbain et paysager " classique ", une approche sensible du site) ; des entretiens semi-directifs auprès des acteurs impliqués dans le conseil, la conception, la réalisation et/ou la gestion de tels projets ; et surtout des investigations auprès des habitants des quartiers étudiés par des entretiens ouverts courts, des " parcours multisensoriels " et des " baluchons multisensoriels " (méthodes crée à cette occasion).Par une analyse qualitative croisée, cette thèse montre que le paysage multisensoriel, par sa consistance spatiale, sociale et sensorielle, peut être un terrain d'échange et de dialogue entre les acteurs professionnels de l'urbain et les habitants. Ce potentiel médiateur est d'autant plus renforcé que la multisensorialité traite non seulement des rapports sensoriels eux-mêmes mais nous renseigne sur bien d'autres thématiques et permet aux sentiments et affects de se libérer. En ce qui concerne plus spécifiquement les rapports sensoriels, cette thèse met en évidence que malgré la primauté de la vue, les autres sens sont fortement présents dans les discours à des proportions différentes mais avec des apports " qualitatifs " (en terme de marqueurs sensoriels relativement communs). Elle questionne alors la sensorialité des quartiers dits durables ainsi que la reconnaissance de ceux-ci - le paysage étant un des indicateurs de la durabilité perçue et vécue. Par les thématiques dont il est porteur, le paysage peut être un outil d'action sur les impensés du développement urbain durable : les aspects esthétiques de cette durabilité ; les (changements des) modes de vie et comportements qui l'accompagnent (ou pas) ; l'implication des habitants dans le processus de projet, dans la gestion de leurs territoires de vie. In fine, le paysage peut participer à une (re)considération du développement urbain durable plus sensible et qui le positionnera bien plus en termes d'habitabilité que d'éco-gestion technique de l'urbain. D'un point de vue méthodologique, le test de la démarche dans son ensemble et des baluchons multisensoriels en particulier, a permis de montrer que, sous certaines conditions, le sensible habitant peut être exprimé et ainsi être pris en considération dans les démarches et projets qui touchent à l'urbain. La formalisation cartographique des résultats de cette thèse (sur un des trois quartiers) propose ainsi un support potentiel de discussion et d'implication de la totalité des acteurs d'un territoire et permettrait à terme une réelle considération sensible de l'urbain. La permanence, l'étendue et le poids démographique de cette "ville des cours", légale ou illégale, posent une question majeure : pourquoi le projet et le modèle d'habitat social moderne, rapidement mis en place par un Etat ivoirien disposant d'importants moyens, n'ont-ils pas donné les résultats escomptés ? Un quart de siècle après l'indépendance, la ville des cours regroupe toujours la plupart des familles abidjanaises; de plus en dépit d'un remarquable effort financier, elle n'est pas conforme aux normes initialement affichées, malgré de spectaculaires transformations du tissu urbain. Pourtant cet "envers" ne peut être assimilé aux bidonvilles misérables des cités latino-américaines ou asiatiques. Produite par des citadins dans un but essentiellement locatif, la ville des cours est souvent construite en dur et intègre certains éléments du projet initial. "Envers" et "endroit" ne seraient-ils pas organiquement liés ? C'est donc à l'examen des stratégies et des jeux d'alliance qu'il faut s'attacher; blocage du projet, détournement des programmes de logement économique, processus d'exclusion, sont en effet indissociables de la logique des choix effectués et de la question de la rente urbaine. De cette vision globale des impacts environnementaux, économiques, sociologiques et culturels du végétal dans le tissu urbain, nous souhaitons présenter ici les impacts sociaux et psychologiques des espaces verts qui, à notre sens, sont les ressorts fondamentaux qui peuvent expliquer pourquoi les attentes de nature s’imposent aujourd’hui en partie prenante des attentes d’habitat et de logement, peut-être plus qu’hier avec la réduction continue des espaces naturels au profit de l’extension urbaine. Cette première étude amène deux conclusions. Comment continuer de concevoir des politiques territoriales dites de « développement durable » sans remettre au cœur de celles-ci l’Homme, les habitants et les usagers des territoires ? C’est un enjeu pour le législateur : répondre aux attentes sociétales de Nature des habitants, à l’évolution des modes d’habiter la Ville et la Campagne. La réglementation en urbanisme se doit d’acter la nécessité de construire un maillage d’espaces verts en terme d’usages qui consolide voire élargit l’emprise des trames verts et bleues. C’est un enjeu pour la recherche française qui doit apporter des données quantitatives et qualitative par des recherches interdisciplinaires entre santé publique et urbanisme par exemple : quel ratio espace vert/espace urbain pour quels usages et quels impacts ? The green evolution of the regulation in town planning since the debut of the beginning of 2000 (SRU, AEU, Grenelle 1 and 2) allowed a (re)introduction of the Nature in Cities and development of the Urban ecology. Is it sufficient to build Green Cities? In our sense, the response is negative. To re-lay sustainable town planning, it is advisable to integrate in the environmental approach, the societal approach. This article proposes a first frame of definition of the societal approach of the town planning of tomorrow, seen by the inhabitants and the users of the urban spaces, by leaning on a first exploratory bibliographical synthesis on the "Positive impacts of the vegetal in town". We did it under the guidance of Plantes et Cités in 2010, with the aim of gathering present-day knowledge about the positive impact of vegetation in urban areas, on human health, well-being and social dynamics. We wish here to presenter the social and psychological impacts of the green spaces, put evidence within a global vision of the environmental impacts, economical, sociological and cultural of the vegetal in the urban space, stemming from the analysis of 30 references chosen among a first bibliographical bottom of 104 documents and international works, in ecology, town planning, sociology and psychology, constituted by Plantes et Cités. This exploratory study affable two conclusions. How continue to conceive territorial policies say of "sustainable development" without putting back at the heart of these the Man, the inhabitants and the users of territories? It is a stake for the legislator: re-lay in sociological and cultural expectations of Nature of the inhabitants, in evolution of the ways to live in the City and in the Countryside. The regulation in town planning points out the necessity to build a meshing of green spaces in term of uses and practices which strengthens even opens the influence of wefts greens and blue. This paper is a contribution to the study of ecological inequality from the point of view of the social and cultural analysis. It traces the movements of subjects from Hong Kong through the analysis of differing modes of inhabiting urban space. The texture of lived spaces provides an analytic focus for examining a highly mobile migrant group. This ethnography explores the mesh of objective structures and migrant subjectivities in a mobile field of migrant ‘place’. A basic assumption of this study is that people from Hong Kong have acquired a common array of dispositions attuned to living in a specific environment. Hong Kong’s dense and challenging urban space embodies aspects of the singular historical ‘production of space’ underpinning a colonial entrepôt that has expanded into a major global economic node. The conditions of lived space are examined through an historical analysis of urban space in Hong Kong and an ethnographic analysis of spatial practices and dispositions. The sprawling spaces of suburban Sydney clearly differ sharply from that of Hong Kong. Interview accounts of settling in Sydney are used to investigate the ‘gap’ in spatial dispositions. Settling entails both practical accommodations to new and unfamiliar localities and an interweaving of cultural and ideological elements into the expanded everyday of migrant subjectivity. Language and speech are integral to spatial practices and provide means of referencing and evaluating ongoing social relations and trajectories. The ‘discourse space’ of interview accounts of settlement in Sydney and movements back to Hong Kong are closely examined, yielding an array of perceptions and representations of different, and contested styles of urban life. All the senses are brought into play in accounts of densities and absences in people’s everyday worlds. At the same time this thesis provides a perspective from which to interrogate contemporary interpretations of ‘transnational’ migration, suggesting the need for an analysis grounded in a specific economy of capacities and dispositions to appropriate social and symbolic goods. Elle révèle un décalage prononcé opposant les pratiques et les mentalités des Piréotes de souche à celles des « immigrés de l’intérieur » qui, des années après leur installation en ville, entretiennent beaucoup plus de relations avec leur village d’origine qu’avec leur quartier d’adoption. This article presents material collected through urban sociological research carried out by a Franco-hellenic collaboration between 1986 and 1992 (CNRS, Greek EKKE and université de Paris X-Nanterre). The empirical survey was spread over four district in Piraeus, which are three quarters working class and one quarter petty bourgeois, using a representative sample of 800 individuals (50% women) between the ages of 20 and 59. This investigation, done by questionnaire, aimed to collect data concerning the family, socio-professional mobility and employment. The analysis presented here focuses on two aspects: on the one hand, the types of relations between generations inside the family and, on the other hand, the types of sociabilities which develop in the community. It reveals a distinct gap between the practices and attitudes of original inhabitants of Piraeus and those of immigrants from the “interior” who, after years of settling in the town, maintain greater connections with their village of origin than with their district of adoption.
