On peut penser que le proﬁl de consommation au cours du cycle de vie inﬂuence les capacités d'épargne du ménage et ainsi s'interroger sur le rôle des statuts résidentiels passés sur l'accession à la propriété. Or, les études s'intéressant à l'impact des statuts résidentiels passés sur l'accession à la propriété sont rares. Dans le cas français, cette question est particulièrement fondée étant donné le poids important du logement social. L'objectif de cet article est d'analyser les effets d'un séjour dans le parc de logements Hlm sur la dynamique d'accession à la propriété. Pour contrôler la sélection des ménages au sein du parc Hlm, nous proposons l'estimation d'un modèle en deux étapes, dans lequel nous calculons les probabilités prédites d'avoir un séjour en logement Hlm et intégrons ensuite ces probabilités dans un modèle d'âge d'accession à la propriété. La probabilité d'avoir eu un séjour en logement Hlm est instrumentée par une variable représentative de l'état du marché du logement au niveau de l'aire urbaine. Les estimations sont basées sur une base de données originale, constituée par l'empilement des trois dernières enquêtes Logement et la déﬁnition de quatre cohortes d'individus, qui nous permettent d'observer un échantillon représentatif des transitions sur le marché du logement de chacune des cohortes au cours des 24 dernières années. Les résultats de l'estimation du modèle de durée avec correction de l'endogénéité du séjour en Hlm mettent en évidence l'accélération de l'accession permise par l'occupation d'un logement Hlm. Ce résultat met en évidence l'existence d'une articulation entre la politique d'offre de logement social et la politique d'aide à l'accession à la propriété. A l'encontre des images négatives souvent associées au logement social, qui constituerait une trappe à pauvreté, cette analyse permet de montrer un réel effet favorable du logement Hlm sur les transitions résidentielles ultérieures. Ces résultats confortent ceux obtenus pas LeBlanc et al. (1999) et Laferrère et LeBlanc (2006) et les complètent en suggérant que le gain sur la dépense de logement permis par l'occupation d'un logement Hlm est, au moins pour partie, utilisé pour la constitution d'un apport personnel permettant l'accès à la propriété. This study presents the pattern of the residential stabilization of North African people in France studied from the results of a qualitative survey lead among Moroccans and Algerian Kabyles living in the Dauphiné. Major mutations appear in the relationships between the two refered communities. The Kabyles renounce to return migration except to spend their «old age» in the birth country while keeping the possibility of coming back to France regularly. This evolution shows the failure of the return migration projects which are transformed into a fixation by home ownership in workers' accomodations. The Moroccan project combines housing and/or trade investments in Morocco and a tendency to improve their settling in France by buying properties. Customs and the marking of their housing show a double positioning in which French and Moroccan cultures are mixed. La stabilisation résidentielle des Maghrébins de France est appréhendée ici à partir des résultats d'une recherche qualitative menée auprès des familles marocaines et des familles algériennes kabyles du Dauphiné. Il apparaît des mutations majeures du rapport aux deux sociétés de référence dans un cas comme dans l'autre. Les projets de retour sont de fait abandonnés par les Kabyles sauf dans l'éventualité de «passer les vieux jours» et tout en gardant la possibilité de revenir régulièrement en France. Cette évolution fortement significative d'une condition ouvrière et d'un échec du projet migratoire, a pour pendant une fixation au lieu par l'accession aidée au logement de type ouvrier en milieu ouvrier. Le projet marocain plus tourné vers la réussite combine aujourd'hui l'investissement au Maroc dans une maison et/ou des commerces avec des tendances à une meilleure installation en France appuyée sur une acquisition immobilière. Quels sont les effets des décisions prises au niveau européen ?</div> <br /> Sous l'impact de la crise, de l'Union européenne, et de facteurs internationaux, les systèmes du logement social ont pu se métamorphoser et les pays ont pu ajuster leurs réponses en fonction de leur histoire et de leur régime de protection sociale respectifs. A la seule lecture des récentes décisions communautaires, il semble que l'Union européenne tendent à pousser une conception selon laquelle le logement social doit être destiné aux seules personnes les plus défavorisées qui ne peuvent pas se loger sur le marché en raison de leurs ressources. Quant à la crise économique et financière, elle a vraisemblablement accentué les tendances à l'oeuvre depuis plusieurs années.
