Nous souhaitons montrer, au terme d'une analyse du vécu des voyageurs de quatre pôles d'échanges, que le déplacement du voyageur au sein du réseau de transport urbain ne se laisse qu'imparfaitement comprendre comme la relation d'un homme avec une machine (approche ergonomique), ou comme la déambulation d'un citoyen au sein d'un espace public (approche sociologique). La fréquentation d'un réseau de transport donne lieu à la construction d'une identité territoriale. Le réseau ne s'oppose pas au territoire, le réseau est territoire. La méthodologie principale retenue pour vérifier l'existence de cette construction identitaire ainsi que son rôle dans l'aisance du voyageur est l'enquête qualitative par entretiens semi-directifs. Favoriser l'interaction territoriale apparait comme une piste intéressante pour améliorer l'aisance du voyageur au sein des espaces de mobilité. Cela nous invite à réfléchir à l'aménagement des espaces de mobilité non pas uniquement en termes ergonomiques et esthétiques (c'est-à-dire en termes spatiaux), même s'ils sont incontournables, mais simultanément en termes d'engagement social, sous la forme de la concertation autour d'un lieu, d'actions politiques plus larges ou de construction de sociabilités ; en termes de représentation cartographique, voire topographique des espaces traversés, pourquoi pas sous la forme d'une cartographie participative ; et, plus largement, selon une logique qui opposerait l'aisance à la performance et favoriserait l'ouverture des lieux contre leur fermeture, l'incisif contre le lisse, la dispersion contre l'unité, la variation contre l'uniformité de la cohérence. An unprecedented craze for complementary or alternative medicines emerges in major cities. This medical field is defined by WHO, but is constituted by various practices, including yoga. This article studies the situation in cities like Paris, Rouen or New Delhi, where specific places are produced to practice and promote this type of healthcare. It appears that these practices are reserved to a certain category of the population. As a result, this situation implies the transformation of therapeutic discourses that turn into discourses on well-being. This article aims to observe what happens and what is said in these new therapeutic places, it questions the renewal of urban health territoriality, and it uses social and cultural health geography. Learning is a central factor of social and spatial cohesion. Educational institutions play a significant role in the reproduction or transformation of social relations by conveying values and practices that either sustain or contradict the dominant societal structures. Learning is also crucial for the enhancement of urban governance, insofar as it is associated with the promotion of critical thinking, access to information and participation in collective decision-making processes. This article discusses how education contributes to inclusive urban development and local collective identities through the responses it provides to three issues – innovation and creativity, citizenship, and cultural diversity – that have become crucial challenges to urban social cohesion. The last section aims to materialise this discussion around two concrete urban processes : the development of local learning communities – learning from the city ; and the role of educational institutions in socially inclusive urban regeneration processes – learning for the city. Architecture and Urban Transformation in Europe” (BOZAR, Centre of Fine Arts Brussels) as a showcase of how architects struggle to adopt a “complex” and “irreductive” approach. Throughout history, classical cities have been interpreted and experienced in various ways. But aesthetics has never been accentuated as much as today. Venice has been an important center of commerce, a naval power, and it has had a lot of influence in arts and culture. But in our days it is a tourist trap and a cluster of so called world heritage. The development of tourism is the main reason for the fact that many old cities have become venues for leisure and entertainment, sometimes so that everyday life itself has been pushed to the margins. There is a lot one can learn by studying the history of the aesthetic appreciation of a city. Sometimes the way a city has been enjoyed has changed following the development of traffic. In Venice water buses have replaced the slow and silent gondolas, and since the building of the railway tourists have been approaching the city from a new direction, so that her façade which was built for seafarers has almost become forgotten. There are also themes of change and mobility which are peculiarly Venetian. What is the nature of a city where there are more tourists than inhabitants? And how does one experience a city where water dominates? These questions, and many more, are discussed in Learning from Venice, and side by side with applied aesthetics, the work of philosophers like Walter Benjamin, Gianni Vattimo, and John Dewey, among many others, enter a dialogue with this extraordinary city. In this article, we use the concept of the chronotope, developed by Bakhtin, to tease out different modes of expressing urban space in detective fiction. The objective is to show how a chronotopical reading, which highlights superimposition and dialogue in chronotopes within the same detective novel, opens up a new perspective on interpreting the representation of cities. La trace de l’escargot, a recent detective novel by Benoît Bouthillette (2005) set in Montreal, is the example we have chosen to illustrate the relevance of chronotopical reading. We identify three chronotopes in the novel: the classical chronotope which corresponds to the almost cliché time-space of the investigation, and reticular and historical chronotopes which reshape the first. The dialogical relationship between the chronotopes uses a wide palette of urban spatiality and produces an image of the city as caught up in traces of Montreal’s past, and in its contemporary and globally connected dimensions.
